Appears to be a combination of permalinks and EM archives being disabled. Doesn't appear to matter what permalink structure I have, as soon as it is anything other than default the events feed page...

Yep, default permalinks it works fine. Anything other than the default permalink with Event Archives disabled causes a 404.
